'Seaweed Spiral' pottery coastal-inspired shapes by Catriona Fitzgerald
Potter Catriona Fitzgerald was taken aback by the beauty of the coast and its natural environment after moving to live in Thanet on the East Kent coast. She created a new series of pieces in pottery, reflecting the shapes and colours of the beach, the sea, the seaweed and driftwood that she saw and collected on daily walks.
We hope you enjoy these very finely made, delicate pieces in our collection. Each is totally unique, a single item, and there is a variety of glazes and colours used.
This piece has a sense of the delicate seaweads with frilled edges moving gently in the sea - rising away from a rolled cylindrical centre, the clay spreads out with a spiral of fine edges and is coloured with oxides and glaze.
The pottery is 12cm tall and 11cm across.
