Flower and 'bamboo' framed mirror handmade in papier mache by Jan Cooper
Exhuberant, joyous and colourful, this handmade mirror by artist Jan Cooper is surely a one-off item for home that's a step beyond the everyday - practical and beautiful, made with countless hours of work and wonderful imagination. Jan uses paper of all kinds, a lot of pulpy eggboxes and glue to shape and cut flowers and leaves, all painted afterwards to make this stunning decorated mirror. The 'bamboo' is made from carded paper as well and painted. It's easy-going and charming, much like it's maker!
The mirror is approximately 55cm diameter, made on a ply base and with a hanging hook attached.
Jan Cooper studied Graphics at Canterbury Art College, then went onto creating handmade 3D greetings cards. This inspired her to move onto making jewellery, which she does with various textiles. She loves to use gold, velvet and mixing fabrics with textured and rigid materials. Jan is an artist spending her life between Brighton and Sandwich, Kent.
