Designer ceramic Woodland coasters by Alison Milner
We have sold coasters by Alison Milner for several years. We love the clean contemporary look and the subjects she chooses. Her original photographs or illustrations are sent to a printer in Stoke on Trent. The water-slide decals are printed using ceramic pigments, which Alison applies to the tiles and they are fired in a kiln where the image bonds permanently with the glaze. The coasters are finished with the makers name on the back and cork protectors for surfaces.
The coasters are a soft white with the two-coloured images
Coasters 9.7cm square and 5mm thick.
The coasters are Woodland deer and Pine cone. We have only two of each left.
THE MAKER
Alison has been designing tiles/coasters with images for over ten years. The images usually evolve as offshoots of other art projects.
"Since graduating from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Furniture Design my work has developed and diversified and the relationship of nature to the built environment is a key theme in my practice.
Whilst working in many different materials, my preference is for the sustainable and natural, for example: clay, wood, paper, glass and enamel. However, when health and safety considerations dictate, I also work with processed materials such as plastic, laminates and vinyls. Learning about new materials and extending processes through collaboration with other makers and with manufacturers is a key part of my practice."
