Ornate 'Seahorse' red and blue sparkling brooch by Jan Cooper
Seahorses are magical creatures and this is a magical brooch! Pulped paper and glue make the shape, which is finely painted for the face by Jan and coated with resin to give a porcelain-like look. Upcycled and recycled fabric and sparkling decorations make up the overall piece, and there's Jan's favourite gold backing along with her artist tag.
The brooch is 11.5cm tall.
Jan Cooper studied Graphics at Canterbury Art College, then went onto creating handmade 3D greetings cards. This inspired her to move onto making jewellery, which she does with various textiles. She loves to use gold, velvet and mixing fabrics with textured and rigid materials. Jan is an artist spending her life between Brighton and Sandwich, Kent.
