A glorious scarf, woven from the fibres of banana trees which would otherwise be thrown away, so a thorougly eco-friendly choice. The scarf feels almost like a slub silk, the weave is nicely textural and is dyed a good grey then finished with a short self-fringe along the two ends.

The scarf measures 75cm wide x 200cm long.

Fabric:  Banana plant fibres

THE DESIGNER

Laura Queening started AURA QUE in 2008 as a passionate (but naive) graduate, straight out of university on an adventure back to Kathmandu, having taught English there before her degree. "I felt drawn back by the warm and friendly nature of the Nepalese people, loving the country’s punch to the senses with colour, smells, and the cultural contrast to the UK. A traditional fashion career didn’t appeal to me, sending designs off to a manufacturing plant where I had no connection with the people or process. The pull of adventure was too strong and Nepal’s wealth of handicrafts were a young designer's dream!"

The company works to high ethical values and supports many people through its work in Kathmandu.
